If Your Not Going Outside, Do You Still Need to Wear Sunscreen?

A picture is worth a thousand words right? This is what the sun does to your skin on a deeper level. Just because this isn’t visible to the naked eye now doesn’t mean it won’t be later. Most sun damage occurs from incidental sun exposer like sitting in your office or driving your car not just laying out at the beach. So the answer is YES it is extremely important to wear your sunscreen everyday if you want to prevent premature aging of your skin and the risk of skin cancers.

Sunscreen tips

  • Apply sunscreen 356 days a year whether inside or out, UVA rays penetrate through clouds, windows in your home, office or car.

  • Apply at least a 30 SPF, UVA/UVB broad spectrum sunscreen to face, neck and décolleté and if there is a little extra on the back of hands as well (because we ladies tend to give away our age from these particular areas)

  • Antioxidants like vitamin C help your sunscreen work even better, so don’t be afraid to up the ante.

  • After sunscreen or makeup application, dust face and neck with a little mineral powder to add an additional layer of protection and seal in your protection.

  • Use a sunscreen that has a physical sunblock as well like zinc oxide.

  • Reapply, reapply, and reapply if you’re going to be in the sun for an extended amount of time.
